FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is a Tabletop Roleplaying Game (TTRPG)?

A Tabletop roleplaying game (RPG) is a game where you and your friends create characters and collaboratively tell a story. Unlike computer or board games, TTRPGs have no fixed options or paths; your imagination drives the game. When your story reaches a point where an outcome is uncertain, you and your friends will roll dice to find out what happens!

Is this a new TTRPG?

Yes! This is a brand new TTRPG set in the world of Space: 1999. Anderson Entertainment are collaborating with Modiphius - a world leader in creating TTRPGs. They’re also behind successful games based on Dune, Star Trek and Fallout.

Do I need to have played an TTRPG before?

No! This TTRPG uses the tried and tested 2d20 game platform, but this game is designed for new gamers as well - no experience necessary.

How does an TTRPG work?

In an TTRPG, one person takes on the role of the "Gamemaster" (GM) who describes the setting and controls any non-player characters (NPCs). The players decide what their characters do based on the situations presented by the GM. The game progresses based on these interactions, with no predetermined outcome. When your story reaches a point where an outcome is uncertain, you and your friends will roll dice to find out what happens!

Is an TTRPG like a board game?

No, TTRPGs are different from board games. In an TTRPG, there is no board and the game is driven by storytelling and imagination rather than moving pieces on a board.

Do I need a computer to play an TTRPG?

No, TTRPGs do not require a computer. They are typically played with pen, paper, and dice.

What do I need to play an TTRPG?

To play an TTRPG, you need:

- A rulebook to understand how to create characters and play the game.

- Dice to determine the success of actions.

- A group of friends, ideally 5-6 people, but you can play with more or fewer.

How are characters created in an TTRPG?

Characters are created using the guidelines in the rulebook, which help you develop skills, background, and personality traits. Your character can be an extension of yourself or someone entirely different.

Can you play an TTRPG with only one player and a GM?

Yes, TTRPGs can be played one-on-one, although they are typically designed for a group of players.
