The Day After Tomorrow is a rarely-seen telemovie pilot that spanned the production of Space: 1999. This Blu-ray includes the original movie pilot restored in high definition from the best available master material, restored soundtrack, plus a wealth of unseen bonus features.

The crew of the lightship Altares, on a mission to discover a new home for humankind, lose control of the craft after it is hit by a meteor shower. With the propulsion system damaged, the crew are left with only their mission of discovery – and no way to return home.

Originally created as a TV pilot, this 47min feature is a rare gem in the universe of creator Gerry Anderson. Produced in 1975 between the two series of Space: 1999, it marks a high point in live action sci-fi and is a showcase of the incredible models, special effects, music and renowned cast that characterise Anderson’s work. Presented here for the first time in high definition, this Blu-Ray features a brand new restoration plus a wealth of extra features.

Not a great programme. Rather didactic, even if it is for kids

I hadn't heard of this film and I assumed that if it had been great I would have. So I wasn't expecteding much. It was interesting but it was very determined to teach the audience the basics about black holes. I was happy with what I received. No complaints. I would watch anyting connected to Gerry Anderson.

Incompatible with some North American Blu-ray players

I'm not going to retread other reviews. If you're getting this, you should be familiar with the storyline, actors and quality of Gerry Anderson productions in the 1970s. I do want to point out that because the video is 25p and not 24p or 30p, it may not playback on some/many North American Blu-ray players. We have 2 Sony players and neither will play the video content. It will only show the menus. It works fine on our Xbox Series X. Please research before purchasing if you're in North America.

    Good product

I enjoyed the Collector's Edition--fun movie, too bad it didn't become a series. It would have made a nice one. I liked the extras that came with it (often I just glance or sample extras, but this time I found myself checking all of the extras out). Good service.

    Such Potential

This is a beautiful release of an excellent and pioneering Sci-Fi vision. Teaching children Einstein's theories and exploring the consequences and questions steming from those ideas through a cosmic, space-time adventure utilising the exquisite models, miniatures, sets, costumes and dialogue from Gerry Anderson Productions we all hold dear. It's a very small step from this to Christopher Nolan's Interstellar. Somewhere, somewhen, in another iteration of the Universe, this was picked up and went to full series. OUTSTANDING
