Welcome to this week’s edition of the Gerry Anderson news roundup! This week blasted off as usual with the latest episode of the Gerry Anderson Podcast, featuring a free Space Precinct audio adventure written and read by Richard James! Out this week on DVD and Blu-ray is the director’s cut of the critically acclaimed documentary Gerry Anderson: A Life Uncharted! Featuring twenty minutes of additional content you won’t have seen in the previous streaming release (including what Gerry Anderson really thought of the infamous 2004 Thunderbirds movie!) the documentary can be purchased today on DVD and Blu-ray from the Gerry Anderson Store, or on DVD and streaming in North America via MPI Media. A planned livestream celebrating the DVD and Blu-ray launch of A Life Uncharted had to be postponed due to circumstances beyond our control! You can now catch David Munday interviewing special guests Jamie Anderson and A Life Uncharted’s award-winning director and producer Benjamin Field this Tuesday February 7th. They’ll be answering your questions live, as well as recalling the process and challenges of compiling the documentary, surprise findings and discoveries, and what did and didn’t make the initial cut. This special streaming event will be live across the Official Gerry Anderson Facebook, Twitter, Twitch and YouTube from 6pm on February 7th 2023. On Wednesday the FAB Facts segment from this week’s Podcast arrived on YouTube in video form, focusing on alternate and unused titles of famous Anderson shows – how many of these did you know? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsFv1idJsZg The London Cartoon Museum announced an upcoming display of artwork celebrating the Anderson universe opening next month! The Museum promises this exhibit will take visitors back in time to a more magical period of retro-futuristic glitz, glamour and adventure, showcasing original classic comic artwork based on the worlds of Gerry Anderson and those who worked with him. The Gerry Anderson’s Century 21 exhibition is at the London Cartoon Museum from March 3rd until June 4th 2023. John Lovell and the Zargon Threat, the first novel based on Gerry Anderson and Tony Barwick’s unreleased 1978 feature film script Five Star Five, is now available in paperback and Kindle e-book form from Amazon! If you’ve already enjoyed the previously-released hardback version and are hankering for more adventures from the Five Star Five universe, author Richard James has you covered – The Doomsday Device, the second book in the series, is now available to pre-order in hardback from the Gerry Anderson Store! Also available in the store are three new t-shirt designs from Chris Thompson! Available in a variety of colours and sizes, these new tees feature Stingray, Skydiver and Joe 90 in the Rat Trap! Celebrating a birthday this week has been Supermarionation voice artist and UFO star Keith Alexander, while popular episodes that aired this week in decades past included Space:1999’s Space Brain, Captain Scarlet’s Shadow of Fear (February 2^nd 1968), Joe 90’s The Race (February 2^nd 1969) and Thunderbirds’ Danger at Ocean Deep (February 3^rd 1966).
