Originally planned as 10 live-action TV episodes by Gerry Anderson in 1975, IGR4 was to follow the adventures of two teenagers and two robots on board their eponymous spaceship. It's Thunderbirds meets Lost in Space!

The world of IGR4 has been brought to life by author Richard James in this novelisation of the original treatment by Gerry Anderson.

It is the 22nd Century. The League of Planets has tasked Jason Stone, Anne Warran and their two robots, Alpha and Zeta to explore the galaxy, bringing hope to those in need of rescue. On board Intergalactic Rescue 4, they travel to ice moons and jungle planets in 10 exciting adventures that see them journey further across the stars than anyone before. But what are the secret transmissions that Anne discovers? And why do their rescues seem to be taking them on a predetermined course? Soon, Anne discovers that her co-pilot, Jason, might be on a quest of his own...

Rescued from obscurity — More please!

A late 1970's proposed idea for a series which would work equally well and effectively as Supermarionation, animated, novel or live action. Richard James polishes the bare bones of what undoubtedly was a curates egg into something special -- updating the characters, language and scientific technology -- as well as seamlessly inserting a story arc. Each chapter fleshes out what would have been an episode's storyline in a limited 10 episode series run and there is room for continuation. The depiction of the main characters on the cover of the hardback is a little limiting despite the diversity inside. The barebones description of the R2D2-like utilitarian robots allows you to imagine what they look like. A lot of politics and galactic protocol is neatly sidestepped in favour of action sequences and convenient endings. While there is jeopardy for those being rescued, our heroes are often quite safe as time counts down, though one has something to hide. Ideal for those enjoy a cross between Thunderbirds and Gemini Force One.
