Based on the classic science fiction television programme Space: 1999 and set in the continuity of the original series, Aftershock and Awe steals a glimpse at an alternate history of mankind, and jump-starts humanity’s eventual destiny far out in space.

In an alternate universe where JFK was never assassinated, humankind has suffered through World War III and built a base on the Moon by the year 1999.

September 13th, 1999 – an atomic accident causes the Moon to be blown out of orbit and hurled into the unknown. The survivors of the lunar base stationed there are launched towards their destiny across the stars. But what of the cataclysm and wanton destruction caused to the Earth in its wake?

This groundbreaking retro-reintroduction to the sci-fi hit series from the early 1970s begins with Awe – an adaption of Space: 1999’s pilot episode, Breakaway.

Now expanded to include both new and unfilmed material, this revolutionary retelling of a sci-fi classic is illustrated with the remastered art of comics legend Gray Morrow and the great Neal Adams’s own Continuity Studios.

The story continues in Aftershockas nine lives are forever changed by the carnage left in the Moon’s wake. Aftershock explores the scientific, environmental and socio-political repercussions of a world left with no Moon.

This edition of Aftershock and Awe also includes a never-before-seen look at BLAM! Ventures unproduced follow-up comic series, Mission: Alpha.

Space: 1999 Aftershock and Awe - is it worth owning ?

The presentation was beautiful. The artwork was very good. I recommend this to anyone who loves Space: 1999. You must love Space: 1999 or you won't care about anything in this book. The writers did a good job of connecting Seasons 1 & 2 of Space: 1999 and showing how the earth was affected by the moon being torn out of earth orbit. This book will provide readers with plenty of information about the storylines in Mission: Alpha, which was an unproduced comic books series by BLAM! Ventures, but they won't learn why BLAM! never produced Mission: Alpha. Basically, this book has good artwork in Aftershock and Awe, and it is very good for those who want to find out about Mission: Alpha. But It is best for lovers of Space: 1999

        Space 1999

Breakaway is my favorite epidsode of space 1999 and it was interesting seeing a comic adaption of it very good the story of aftershock was very good with some Bible scriptures in it the but the art was a bit weak I thought

        Space 1999: Aftershock and Awe

It was delivered in good time, and was a nice Christmas present! I enjoyed the re-imagining of Breakaway with extra inserts featuring season 2 characters (e.g. Tony Verdeschi); and the complementary story of what happened back on Earth was wonderfully catastrophic and scientifically plausible. The artwork was excellent, and stylish in ambition although the actor characterisations were sometimes a bit rough. My only criticisms are that the transfers of artwork to print image were sometimes scaled differently (caption text of slightly uneven sizes) and some panels were overly dark.
