About the Author
Richard James's association with the worlds of Gerry Anderson began with playing Officer Orrin in Space Precinct. Since then, he has novelised the pilot episode of Space Precinct, Demeter City, and written four new adventures for the officers of Precinct 88, Space Precinct: Revisited. His memoir, Space Precinct Unmasked, details his time spent filming Gerry's last live action series. He has also adapted a lost sit-com script from Gerry Anderson and Ronnie Cass, The Fat of the Land, as a play for the stage. Aside from his Anderson credentials, Richard has written a Victorian detective series following the fortunes of Detective Inspector Bowman of the Yard.

First of all I am not much of a reader. Only during vacations or when I have a lot of time off. I bought 5S5: The Doomsday Device in 2023 and only just started it while sunbathing in Spain in May 2024. Since I forgot what happened in the first book, and didn’t have it with me, I found myself listening to the audiobook on Spotify. After that I read the second book in less than three days! I really like the first book, but it’s clear that it is a concept from a different time. To continue with a completely new story must be very challenging and Richard James did a fantastic job. I read the book like I was watching a film that is a cocktail of Star Wars and Indiana Jones-adventures, with the young Harrison Ford as John Lovell. Cheers! The new team with Colonel Zana replacing Sumara reminded me of The Bad Batch (from the Star Wars animated series of the same name). I also like that it is much bloodier and more written for adults. The occasional plot twists and the cliffhanger at the end makes me want to start reading the third book as soon a possible. A job well done Richard James!
This is a really gripping read from start to finish. Richard James's writing style is so clear, straight to the point and very kinetic when it's an action scene. Can't wait for the next book Battle for Kestra
I loved the first novel which was, as I understand it, an unused script adaption so I was very interested to read this being a completely new story from Richard James and I was not disappointed, a great novel, moved along at a brisk pace. A proper page turner. Hopefully more to come
Overall a very good read. It was easy to get into the story line and the characters were great. Read through it in 3 separate sessions which is good good for me. Normally I loose interest or get distracted and move on to something else. So for me it was FAB.
Five Star Five's author Richard James sparks your imagination beyond the stars. I could easily see a whole tv series based on the amazing adventures of John Lovell, Clarence and the rest of the team. Hopefully this will be discovered soon by a wider audience!
