The Official Gerry Anderson Store is excited to bring you this reprint of the classic Captain Scarlet Poster. Sourced via comic strip and concept artist Lee Sullivan, Lee explains how this print became available again to fans:
When the Anglo Captain Scarlet bubblegum card set was released in 1967 to tie in with the TV series, many of the 66 cards depicted images of peril which echoed the dramatic paintings seen at the end of each episode. These were drawn by top comic artist and illustrator Ron Embleton who was the first of the TV21 artists to depict Scarlet in comics form. Whilst he didn't contribute to the images on the front of the cards, when the reverse sides were put together they formed this fantastic image of the Spectrum team and hardware by Embleton.
If one chewed through enough card sets and saved the wrappers - which I did, assiduously - it was possible to send them off and receive the image as a very impressive poster. A copy hung on my wall for years, eventually yielding to pop group posters and becoming just a glowing memory. Nostalgia, as we all know, is a very powerful thing, and I had been searching for a copy for years until I found this one for sale on eBay. A chance conversation with Jamie Anderson led to my being asked to scan and clean up the image and I'm happy to say the result is now available here.
As a way to differentiate this version from the original, I took the opportunity to make some very small adjustments here and there, some are easier to spot than others. All of them are made using Ron's original work: I scrupulously avoided adding any marks of my own. I did completely remove the drawing-pin holes though, thinking the purchaser could decide about adding those for themselves.
Poster print size: 530x699mm
Material: 170gsm silk finish poster paper
Print method: Litho
Note that the print is NOT framed.

Impressed with how quickly it was delivered. The poster is on good quality paper and vibrant colours. Now I just have to get it into a nice frame.
The poster is a real trip down memory lane and very well printed on good quality paper. I just wish that I still had the set of cards that I collected as a boy!
