it was awesome - already watched a bunch of episodes - brought back so many memories - thank you for doing this
First of all, I'll address what will be the only two complaints about this set; the picture isn't great. It's been duplicated from 16mm film, filmed from a standard TV picture (which was a standard way to duplicate in 1962; b&w 16mm for overseas sales). No amount of restoration will get a better picture than what's in this Blu Ray. And there are no extras. I would recommend getting the Network DVD as well just for the extras as they are superb, but obviously there were rights issues here. Amazingly this was made at the same time as Anderson's 'Fireball XL5'. Have to say, I SLIGHTLY prefer 'Space Patrol'. Every episode is fascinating, with great characters and plots...the word is charming. It OOZES charm. I remember seeing this and being convinced it was an Anderson TV show, but now I like to think 'Fireball' and 'Space Patrol' exist at the same time in different galaxies. With the sheer quality of this show, it baffles the mind that Roberta Leigh didn't go on to be bigger than Gerry Anderson, or at least nowadays spoken of in the same terms. This show would have been a fantastic foundation to build on. It's a solid 10/10. If you like 'Fireball', you'll love this. Plus it's got Martian sausages. Worth the price of admission alone.
As described
Well produced and brings back my childhood I remember how eerie I thought the presentation was
I am old enough to remember when "Planet Patrol" appeared in the US. It was, in some ways, so bad it was good. The industrial sound track was great, the lack of scientific accuracy was laugh out loud funny. The series is a warm fuzzy, and I am quite happy to have it. Not sure what my wife thinks, but after 30 plus years of marriage, she knows I'm weird.
