Space: 1999 Series 1 & 2: Original TV Soundtrack: Limited Edition [CD]

NOTE-CD SOLD OUT WITH A POSSIBLE REPRESS PENDING AT A LATER DATE

The Official Gerry Anderson Store is excited to offer you a new soundtrack release following Fireball XL5, Supercar, Thunderbirds and UFO. Presented here is Space: 1999 Series 1 & 2 on a 2 x CD set with a 28 page booklet (also available on separate LP's) – another of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson’s iconic TV shows.

Space: 1999 ran for two series from 1975 to 1977 and depicted the occupants of Moonbase Alpha and their struggle for survival when, after the explosion of a nuclear waste dump, the Moon is hurtled into space.

The series was the most expensive produced for British television at that time and the most musically diverse of all the shows made by Anderson for ITC.

Gerry’s long-time musical partner in all the previous adventures was Barry Gray and Space: 1999 proved to be the last of their collaborations. For Series 2, Derek Wadsworth took over the reins to provide a more contemporary sound.

The selections from Year 1 show Gray’s skills in creating a memorable opening theme as well as dramatically evocative cues highlighting the plight of the Alphans as they became known. The Year 1 album also showcases a selection of library cues which featured throughout the series.

The Year 2 album contains Wadsworth’s score with specially selected cues to provide a driving and exciting narrative to convey the new adventures.

As with all the previous releases in this series, the album features newly remastered sound and episode presentations.

    Damaged Item

No, the cover was badly ripped. The book had no packing material for shipping. I suspect the cover damaged before it was shipped, so whoever put it together was aware of that. I am still waiting for a replacement cover. Overall, not a very good buying experience, especially having to wait so long for this book to be publsihed.

    Lunar cast.

Lunar violins & clarity clarinets. Space: 1999 always had signature violins as fine as lunar dust. Excuse the putti, my 5.5 eagle is two weeks away.
