Available here from The Official Gerry Anderson Store is this 1:288 scale model kit of Intergalactic Rescue 4 is a multipurpose space vehicle equipped with the latest technology to help those in peril.
After the success of their first live-action sci-fi series UFO (1970-71), prolific British producers Gerry and Sylvia Anderson developed two more effects-heavy series for global audiences. The first was Space:1999, staring Mission: Impossible's Martin Landeau and Barbara Bain, which it sold to Sir Lew Grade's ITC Entertainment for broadcast syndication. That show eventually ran for two seasons beginning in 1975. The second was IGR-4, which the Andersons pitched to America's NBC television network that same year. Essentially a live-action version of its venerable Thunderbirds series, IGR-4 would follow the crew of the spaceship Intergalactic Rescue 4 as it zoomed about the galaxy aiding space traveler in success.
Although some concept art was created for the show, the proposed series never got beyond the "pitch" stage as NBC passed and no pilot episode was produced. Even so, the IGR-4 remains a fascinating testament to what might have been.
